Being Made To Feel Different
I am taking on-line college classes at Ivy Bridge College and we read an essay. We had to respond to that essay we read and this is my response. This work was turned in 09/16/2011.
Week 3 Discussion 2 Being Made To Feel Different
Being Made To Feel Different
I feel different a lot. I have experience feeling different before and after knowing how people can treat you. I am adopted Inuit Eskimo and Tlingit Indians to a white family. This mixture of origin make me look like an oriental or Asian person. While growing up I would always get asked by classmates if I am Chinese or Japanese, even now I get asked what is my Nationality. So my awareness has been innocent then, not knowing that at time people can do harm to one another with joke, like me Chinese, me play joke, me put pee pee in your coke... Still innocent in middle school some more teasing, like people doing karate moves to joke with me. In high school, some the same teasing, and some good friends. As an adult in the world, a little of everything, from meeting bad people to mean people to meeting good people. One year while working in a Pizza Hut I meet a pagan, this person openly admitted to be a practicing pagan. I hope someone understands real pagan, this was probably one of the most nicest and corrigible person I have ever meet compared to anyone else who keeps a façade. Then we have the present, being made feel like your job is going to get rid of you, after getting terminated from a job that you took a right stand but made a bad choice to go home early. Then recently, being asked if I was permanent yet or not after about four months of employment. Again, there are some bad people and good people there too, one girl yells at me from time to time, and one guy asked me to help him on some cash jobs he gets. I have learned to be compassionate. Compassion lead to patients, patients leads to understanding. Understanding leads to empathy and or forgiveness as needed. Compassion is the foundation of deliverance of sin, I have a wrestling with the spirit of the world and not with the blood and flesh.
What is required of us to grow? Some of it is life experience because you need that reality to relate to for a complete comprehension, and the willingness to change.

Socialization in to Gender?
This assignment is in response to "Essentials of sociology: a down to earth approach: by James Henslin, the porting of it is called "Socialization into Gender".
Week 3 Discussion 2 Important Idea of “Socialization into Gender”
Important
Idea of “Socialization into Gender”
Let me
start by saying I don't like the title “Socialization into Gender”,
I don't like the main idea of gender messages by stereotyping gender
roles. You can do anything you want if you put your mind to it.
This is from an on-line definition:
Definition
of SOCIALIZATION:
: the process by which a human being beginning at
infancy acquires the habits, beliefs, and accumulated knowledge of
society through education and training for adult status
Another on-line definition:
Definition of SOCIALIZE
transitive verb
1:
to make social;
especially : to fit or train for a social
environment
2a
: to constitute on a socialistic
basis <socialize industry> b :
to adapt to social needs or uses
3:
to organize group participation in <socialize a
recitation>
intransitive
verb: to participate actively in a social group
The first definition is a
medical definition from Merriam Webster medical section, that a
problem for me. The second definition is a dictionary definition,
and it is okay, but with understanding that socialization is a
trained skill as defined. So who trains?
The first paragraph in the
article “Socialization into Gender” by James M. Henslin is a
problem to me that it states “To channel our behavior1,
society also uses gender socialization. By expecting different
attitudes and behaviors from us because we are male or female, the
human group nudges boys and girls in separate directions in life.”
Let me put it in a nut shell
in my own words. A boy is trained by his farther and mother growing
to play cowboy and indians, with his tonka truck, and get dirty. A
girl is trained by her farther and mother to play barbie dolls and
with her doll house and have tea parties, and stay clean.
The second paragraph bring
the question up of how we learn gender messages and the influence in
a persons life of gender messages. It introduces the family and mass
media were the rest of the article talks about gender massages
influences.
This article reminds me of
Amy Chua in how they put bad media influence on her in raising her
children. To me, Amy Chua, in shielding her children is not cause of
week children rather giving them time to explore their human
qualities that world will soon take away from them at school, work,
and general contact in the world. The world will gnaw at us all soon
enough, so why rush it! It is the parents job to build the
communication and socialization skills of our child, not the worlds.
The balance of socialization is yielded by the lack of these unbuilt
skills replaced by rebellious contact in the world. That we
released our children to early in to the world, with out proper
eduction and monitoring of their activities while they growing up.
We only heard about bombs in other countries, then government
buildings, then colleges, and now high schools are not safe because
we don't properly educate our children on the skills of communication
and socialization, keep in mind these skill do dialog on behavior
that is to say internal and external stimuli, our feelings, our
thought process, our reaction to, in the circumstances.
The way the industry of
medical society want you and I to believe or understand something is
their problem. You raise your children with knowledge and
understanding from information you know the best you can. Yes we
have influences on our children because they love us, and we managed
to keep then alive loving and freely because we love them too. With
effort and striving we can become better than the sum of the ones who
raised us. The excuses of setback is not a sign to stop, rather an
opportunity to learn something. "Every wrong attempt discarded
is another step forward." from Thomas Edison; "Anyone who
has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." from
Albert Einstein. The same holds true to us raising our children and
the socialization influences on them and us.
In closing I can choose to
react negatively or positively to a problem. I have the power of
choice, I can choose to work in an industry as a school teach, a
nurse traditionally dominated by females. A car mechanic, a
corporate boss traditionally dominated by males. It is my choose,
not the worlds to influence me because I am a man or woman. You too
have the power of choose to be and not influenced by the world
because you are born a boy or girl, you can also break the lines you
may not like, that you were raised with, keep what you like and
believe in, love yourself for you, not in what the world loves you
for. Believe in yourself.
1 Definition of BEHAVIOR http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/behavior

also : an instance of such behavior
3: the way in which
something functions or operates

Criticism
This is a post from my gone Yahoo! Pulse blog. I turned the paper in to my college class back in April. So enjoy the repost, thanks.
Timko Mathiasen Week 4 Unit 4 Discussion 1 Criticism
Timko Mathiasen Week 4 Unit 4 Discussion 1 Criticism
Criticism
I have many thought of Criticism, some that are normal to mans thinking and pleasing to the ego of the course and then there is the one who read the bible. I bring this in because we are talking about how a person feels and God created us with his quality. To ignore where our in born quality to dehumanize a man or woman, that we have no emotions at all. Moving forward to the question I will try my best to answer the question of Criticism with out preaching.
I personally find the work atmosphere at every single job I have worked since I start my first job all dehumanizing. Criticism and constant reassurance exist because we think we all should be robots in the work atmosphere. This goes back to Amy Chua, in shielding her children is not cause of week children rather giving them time to explore their human qualities that world will soon take away from them at school, work, and general contact at the store. The world will gnaw at us all soon enough, so why rush it! It is the parents job to build the communication and social skills of our child, not the worlds. The balance of criticism and reassurance is yielded by the lack of these unbuilt skills of communication and socialization replaced by rebellious contact in the world. That we released our kid in to early in to the world, with out proper eduction and monitoring of their activities while the grow up. Everything, even in the work force we need to educate ourselves in technology skills, and what I call human skills. To me human skill include the communication, the socialization, and the feelings, because our current socialization skill are not expressed and educated properly for some people to realize it does include stimuli and this stimuli does include our feelings. Are we too soft, no. Is criticism too harsh, yes.
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love." - Washington Irving

Week 1 Discussion 2 Under Whom? in my ENG-100 70 INTRO TO COLLEGE READING & WRITING
This is my most recent papers turned in. It is to discuss the publication "Under Whom?" written by the editorial board of the Los Angeles Times that appeared in the September 18, 2005 edition of the paper.
Week 1 Discussion 2
Under Whom?
Under
Whom?
I am a
baptized Jehovah's Witness so it was clear to me to be a critical
thinker as I read the article and the intro of the article. For the
title “Under Whom” gives me much more of a different meaning that
might be of yours. The words “pledge” and “allegiance” give
me problems even before we get to the phrase “under God” and
rightfully so to any true christian.
The word
“pledge” in definition, you give a promise to do something or
give something. The word “allegiance” in definition, you give
loyalty of obligation to. Together with the word pledge and the word
allegiance you are giving your promise of loyalty of obligation to
the nation of the United States of America.
In
Matthew 4:8-10 teaches that the devil took Jesus to an unusual high
mountain, offered him all the kingdoms if Jesus did an act of worship
to him. This versus teaches us that the devil has control of all the
nations or kingdoms. We understand this because God can't lie in his
own bible showing us that the devil has control of the kingdoms by
offering them to Jesus if he did an act of worship to him. You can't
give or offer something that you don't own or have authority over.
Mark 12:28-34 teaches us to love God first and that is the first and
greatest commandment. In Revelation 14:6-12 teaches us of how the
nations are fornicating with the devil and will receive the wrath of
God. With these three lessons we learn that the devil has authority
over the nations, they are fornicating and will receive the wrath of
God, and last the greatest commandment is to love God.
Another
example is that with our pledge allegiance if asked we are to fight
in war against another nation. In the Mosaic Law the first Ten
Commandments, thou shall not kill! How can I say I love God first if
I knowingly break one of Gods Commandments of Love for the Love of
Life to take another life that is being asked of me. God would never
put me in that situation to take another life that he created.
Sin is
any thing against Gods religious or moral law, these two examples
show true christian it is sin to “pledge allegiance”, to kill,
greater sin to kill for the United States of America and sin to fight
for this nation of the United States of America.
Once
again critical thinking, the word “patriot” is a problem too for
a true Christians. The definition of “patriot” is one who loves
and supports their county. So for Judge Karen Williams who decided
that the pledge is a patriotic activity and not a religious one is a
contradictory in terms of who a christian loves first. Do I pledge
my allegiance to this nation first be for I love God? Or do I love
God first recognizing it is sin to pledge my allegiance to the United
States of America, remembering that lesson in Revelation 14:6-12.
Now on
to the “religious phrase” “under God”. God is not supporting
this as we learned in the example with the three bible lesson. God
is not even supporting patriotism and its activity, since the nations
are under the devils authority. This “religious phrase” “under
God” to a true christian nothing more than a false light guide by
the devil.
In
conclusion “Under Whom?” to a true christian you are announcing
who’s side you are on Gods or the devils. I did say this
“religious phrase” gives much different meaning to me than you
might think!
Love and
peace to all.

Week 1 Discussion 1 Discussion Board Assignment from ENG-100 70 INTRO TO COLLEGE READING & WRITING
Discussion Board Assignment
Hello, Emily Lewandowski and fellow classmates my name is Timko Mathiasen. I am from Kotzebue Alaska and as of right now I am in Raleigh N.C. I am studying Computers and Information Technology to work in either networking security or data forensic to recover lost data.
If I had an unlimited supply of food I would get everything that was, to try it all out, to taste all the food that existed sound great to me.
If I were an animal I would be a Porpoise or a Dolphin. We learn how much smarter they are to us and we learn that we only use a small percent or our brain. So I wounder how much knowledge does one have in our oceans.
Cool my favorite summer time activity isn't being in class but swimming!
If I could go any place in the world is were Jesus Christ walked. To see were our lord walked and talked, were he gave his sermon on the mount, to see the different cities he preached and taught would be some thing great to experience.
I believe learning academic reading a writing is important to an extent of effective communication. It has been known and proven over centuries that our English language changes in understanding and meaning with the use of slang and other lingo. To have a common ground of jargon of terms and understanding is important in communication, just think then how would it be to be a lawyer with out certain words in our society of law. With that being said, as this class is mandatory, I hate English as a subject of reading and writing. To be told what to read about and write about I would have that to be the Bible. To articulate one's other creative work is in the eye of the beholder, and yet hear we are. The communication between the reader and writer is a relationship, and some relationships just don't work were as other are wonderful, profound and most importantly enjoyable. But what I hate most about our English language as a subject not of communication but as we as man have a need for a definition to everything in existence, to give it meaning, to give it an identity, to give it a spot in a dictionary to be looked up. I my 44 years of life I already see this as a wedge that divides understanding in communication rather than uniting others with communication. A good example of what I am saying is the word ain't, I have see this non word used more by whites than blacks, I my self am an Eskimo and Indian from Alaska. The online dictionary Websters says different http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/aint.
Peace love, till next time
Timko.
