This post emerged from my English on-line college classes. it was a writing assignment to come up with a concept word and technobabel is mine.
Week 1 Discussion 2 Concept word
Technobabel
Technobabel
Technobabel comes from two
words one being technology and the second being babel. The
definition of technology is the practical application of knowledge,
like medical technology or computer technology. Each field of
technology has it own jargon that is defined and has application use
like 50cc's. The definition of babel is confusion of sound or voice.
An example would be when a person speaks a different language the
sound or voice is babel, make no sense to us. When you combined
technology and babel you get Technobabel, and is defined as practical
application knowledge that is confusing.
Technobabel example would
be 50cc, in medicine 50cc though in volume has a different practical
application than a 50cc gas motor. The jargon confusion is the cc,
or cubic centimeters, though again in volume is the same the
application is not, 50 cc of medicine to a patient or 50cc volume of
gas combustion in a motor. An other example is jargon that just
simply confuses people, like anti-virus, mail-ware, or OS. These
three example of computer jargon, an anti-virus program and mail-ware
program protects the OS or Operating System, which in it self is a
program too.
